I have the privilege of writing a weekly deep-dive into current events, trends, and topics for a client which is included in a weekly note to a large readership. It’s been a challenging year for so many, I’ve decided to share it with you, gentle reader. I’ve removed all content that is privileged:
I hope you’ll indulge a moment to reflect on solstice. December is a month filled with celebrations of light – Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, even Christmas celebrates a star that lead the way. December is also a month where we march slowly into darkness, with each sunset a little earlier and each sunrise a little later than the previous day. Some mornings we wake up and wonder why we’re still so tired and part of it has to do with the length of our days, the sunlit hours we experience. Solstice (12/21) marks the return of the sun – our days are longer after we complete the longest night. Holding space this week for both darkness and light: for those who feel, heavily, the weight of the darkness – those who grieve, those who fight unseen battles – and for those reaching for the light – those who welcome with great anticipation the promise of 2022, those who are resolved to learn, grow, and change. Wherever you are, best wishes in 2022 – grateful for your support and excited for what comes next.
